I know many of you are wondering how various PALS services will be impacted by the state’s fiscal crisis. So I am writing to update you on what we know now:

• Delivery. This service will continue at current levels.
• PrairieCat. This service will continue at current levels within the existing budget approved by PrairieCat members.
• Consulting. Effective 30 June 2010, this service will be suspended until the normal state payment schedule resumes. 
• On-site Technology Support. PALS staffing for this service will end, as of 30 June 2010. A committee of Tech Support subscribers is crafting a plan for sustaining this service after that date. For details, contact Kacy Kelly at PALS (kacyk [at] palsnet [dot] info).
• Group purchasing. In a few weeks, we will invoice e-resource subscribers for the upcoming fiscal year 2011 service period. We are developing plans for moving PALS group subscription services to other approaches by 30 June 2011.
• Email and Web hosting services. Once we receive State Library approval, we will invoice participating libraries for these services, per the fee schedule approved by the PALS Board in May. We are developing plans for moving these services to other arrangements by 30 June 2011.
• Other services. We're in the process of devising strategies for other PALS services, and we will have further information later. Stay tuned.
